Another day's over

I know, another cheesy sunset, just like in the previous post. But there is something in this photo that makes me want to publish it as soon as possible.

It is no sunset, really. Just the blue hour after, with the silhouette of a sculpture that looks like a cactus and another - of a backpacker strolling down the beach. I wish I could see this kind of view from my window more often than once a year...

Eye in the sky

This picture was taken at the rock pool near Los Gigantes on Tenerife. The pattern of clouds makes it as if there was a big eye in the sky. Lovely view and also great place to visit during travels!

Oh, and the land you see on the horizon is La Gomera, the other of the seven Canary Islands.

Rocking sunset

This picture was taken around Garachico's rock pools, which were pretty unrestful this day. Tenerife has so much to offer, even in this unwelcoming winter season...

A day on the river

Enough of those sad, monochrome pictures... Although the one published yesterday actually took me back to Thailand and then I found this one.

The river in Bangkok is a very interesting place. Where an inattentive tourist can spend a hundred bucks on a cool trip that otherwise would cost him maybe 100 baht if he paid for the tickets on the boat and at the temples. It is also a place when you get out of the heat, sort of. I mean, it is better to feel the water breeze on your face than sit in a park in the full sun...

One thing in Bangkok never changes though - the river is as busy as the roads.

Spot the difference

When visiting Lake Placid on Easter weekend, I barely could recognize the lake I saw 2 years ago in the summer. However, even in its frozen state, you can still take a trip around the Mirror Lake!

Just lie down and watch... "Friends"

Vang Vieng was the place where we stopped to "refuel" after the cold of Luang Prabang. Not so long ago this spot was a serious drug scene, now cleaned up (within reason), is for partying in the night and doing cool stuff during the day. The activities include: hiking, mountain biking, swimming in ponds, kayaking, tubing, rock climbing.

The activity, which seems quite popular there is watching Friends (as in TV series). You go to a restaurant, order food and drinks, lie down on a mat and enjoy the show.

For obvious reasons I was more interested in the view "outside". So I chose to go to restaurants on the river, hunting the sunset. And - oh my gosh - it was a beautiful sight!

We spent total four days in Vang Vieng and - when every restaurant felt the same and the next day wasn't particularly different from the previous one - we left for Vientiane.

Now you see me...

Not bad for the first moon shots? This one took a 300mm tele-lens (actually 450mm due to the 1.5 DX crop factor).

For the next super-moon I plan to be in Adirondacks.

Silence after storm

I guess I still have a thing for rain and black-and-white pictures. But the little Sony's rich B&W is just so good.
These two - could not decide which is better - were taken on the Cleveland's riverside just around the Tower City Center. The storm has already passed, but it was pretty rough.

Vacations' end

Got to the beach early to get some nice sunrise pics, but did not planned on this. Very nostalgic, given my winter escape is about to end very soon...

Railroad bridge

New country, new day, new start. On the morning jog the sights were so different from what I got used to in Chiang Mai.
For some reason, Sri Lanka reminds me of Poland 25 years ago. Very agricultural landscape. The picture above could be as well taken in my country. Feels very homy and very exotic at the same time!

Montreal RGB (reprocessed)

Nikon D5100 18-55mm, 18mm, 1/60s @ f/10, iso 320
I just reprocessed my first 5-starred (by my-humble-self of course) picture. The original (down) was taken with Nikon 5100 / 18-55mm kit lens to RAW and treated with ViewNX (did not have anything better at that time). The new version (up) is enhanced as DNG in LR5 and then processed with Nik Viveza, Dfine and Output Sharpener.

Bonus: I didn't quite remember there is a moon on this photo!
